Lessons from Hawaii’s January 13 Ballistic Missile False Alarm

Share

It was a beautiful new day in Hawaii. Suddenly, at 8:08 AM last Saturday morning an alert was sent from Hawaii’s emergency response system to hundreds of thousands of cell phones with the above words: “This is NOT a drill.” For the next 38 minutes, people panicked, were terrified, and scared to death. Many who had no thoughts of God prayed. 38 minutes later, another message went out, “Earlier message was sent in error … There is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii.” Whew!!!!!!!

Here are some lessons: 1) False alarms do occur (obviously) 2) Just because they do, that doesn’t mean the REAL THING may never happen. 3) We must be ready to die at any time. 4) We can’t just suddenly prepare to meet our Maker in a crisis. 5) We must be READY NOW.

“Prepare to meet your God” (Amos 4:12) said the prophet Amos. Now is the time to prepare for eternity by forsaking our sins and trusting Jesus. Death can come at any moment. One never knows. But if we know Jesus Christ as our loving Savior, death is but a short sleep, and then we will be resurrected “to be with the Lord forever.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17. Alleluia!

FYI, in light of what just happened in Hawaii, our White Horse Media staff met this morning to discuss how we can move even more rapidly than previously if a major crisis or news story suddenly breaks that ties in with Bible prophecy. We want to film, discuss, warn, explain, and even live stream quickly so we can insert what the Bible says into any major event — which is what’s missing in most news coverage of any breaking story.

Separately, this weekend (Jan. 19,20), we will conduct LIVE a “Living in the Last Days” seminar in Ontario, Canada (see details below). If you live nearby, join us.

We appreciate so much those of you who pray for us. With God’s help, White Horse Media will continue to be a light in this dark world pointing others to Jesus Christ, to His Word, and to His truth.

  1. Yes Pastor Steve
It was a very frightening experience here in Hawaii this past Saturday when we got the message! I truly believed it was my last day on earth. I prayed to the Lord and gave Him my heart again. I prayed for my children, and said goodbyes to my family here on the phone. But yet, I did have peace even amidst it all. I am very thankful it was a false alarm!!!!! But now, more than ever, I want to be ready when Jesus comes, and I want my children to be ready to. Thank you for your ministry and all that you do.

  2. Thank you, Steve. When I saw a little tract in our Adventist bookstore the other day entitled “The Pope and Prophecy” I read it quickly then went to the web address given and as soon as I saw your name listed for White Horse Media, I knew it was going to be good. I had read one of your books years ago from the church library and was very deeply impressed with what you had to say.

  3. Yes, you are very, very right. I was there with my two friends who live there, visiting. My girlfriend, Mary’s cell phone went off first, then the other Mary’s phone, and then mine. We turned on the T.V. and it confirmed the missell attack! There were no shelters to run to in Hawaii. My friend, Mary looked at me and said, “What shall we do now?” I said, “let’s pray, so I prayed.” The The Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance Psalms 91. I took my Bible and read the 91 Psalms. We felt at peace then, for whatever happened next.
