California is again being ravaged by fierce wildfires. A recent report I heard was 17 fires blazing, such as The Carr Fire and The Mendocino Complex Fire — now the biggest in California’s history. A new one, called “The Holy Fire,” started a few days ago in Southern California.
The Holy Fire? This reminds me of the future holy fire which The Holy Bible predicts will eventually consume the entire world. Take a look:
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 2 Peter 3:10-14
These verses predict that a global fire is coming which will burn up this planet and its evil works. Nevertheless, those who now reveal “holy conduct and godliness” will survive the inferno to enjoy “new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” This is God’s holy promise. May that wonderful Day come soon!
