California Fires. Judgments from God? Are We Ready for the Future?

Share

Once again, my home state is burning. As of this writing, here’s a few quick facts:

Kincade Fire in Northern California:
—This wildfire has burned an area more than twice the size of San Francisco and destroyed nearly 60 homes.
—wind gusts reaching as high as 50 mph
—By 7 a.m. Tuesday, the Kincade Fire has grown to 75,415 acres.
—The fire is 15% contained.
—The blaze has destroyed 124 structures, 57 of which were residential homes.
—More than 90,000 homes are at risk.

Getty Fire in Southern California:
—California’s largest utility, Pacific Gas & Electric, warned that nearly 4 million people could soon be in the dark.
—This fire has burned over 650 acres and is 5% contained.

Look closely at the picture below, and at the posts beneath it.

To me, this looks so apocalyptic. Two fires, one in Los Angeles (near where I grew up), and the other devastating wine country in the north. Two comments on this CBSN website refer to these as God’s judgments. Unfortunately, many more devastations like these are coming. Notice also the words on the sign behind the reporter: “IS YOUR HOME READY?” Reading this, I can’t help but think that we should all be asking ourselves, Are we ready for the future? Are those in my home ready? Am I personally ready?

May the good Lord Jesus help us all!

This is also another opportunity to give out literature, such as our inexpensive pocketbooks, Making Senses of Deadly Disasters, The Coming Judgments of God, and Secrets of Inner Peace. To order from White Horse Media, call 1-800-782-4253.

I’m sure everyone in the wake of these fierce fires would appreciate our prayers.

  1. Kindly, let us not fall into this trap of judgement from God. It conjures up misconceptions concerning God’s character. We have no idea concerning these matters.

  4. Pastor Wohlberg, I was at a presentation you made at a church in the west San Fernando Valley years ago which was primarily for jewish people where the locals attempted to make Matzoh Brei…and again at a presentation recently at the Crossroads SDA church in Sylmar, California. As it happens, I became a member at that church by transfer from the Berean Church in Los Angeles about 6 months ago. I want you to know that I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation at Crossroads.

Much to my surprise, the head deacon, Mr. David Garrett, ask me if I would be a deacon. I consider that to be quite an honor, giving me the opportunity to serve. I became a member of the SDA church in 2013, joining my family who are all Adventists. I am Jewish, of Russian Jewish parents from Brooklyn NY and I was even Bar-Mitvahed when I was 13. These , days, at the ripe old age of 83, I sometimes get a kick out of comparing basic Judiasm philosophy to Christian and I have concluded that perhaps judiasm is little more practical. Like “do onto others as you would have them do to you” as compared to the Christian, “Love thy neighbor”. I would be curious as to your opinion on this.
