Timely Tidings

A Lesson from the Costa Concordia

The eyes of the world remain fixed on the tragedy of a sunken cruise ship off the coast of Italy, and Carnival Corp., the ship's owner, "has blamed the captain, Franscesco Schettino, for the disaster, saying he made an unauthorized and unapproved deviation from the route."

As I have contemplated this nightmare, this Bible verse speaks to us all:

"Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or to the left; remove yourself from evil." Proverbs 4:26,27

The fact is that Captain Schettino was responsible for 4200 lives, and current information suggests he took an unnecessary risk.

Let's take this lesson to heart. Concerning the salvation of our souls, let's avoid unnecessary risks, repent of our sins, and keep a straight course. The hour is too late to deviate a hairsbreadth from Jesus Christ and His righteousness.

Let's stick with solid Bible truth.

Praying for the families that lost loved ones,
